The team will work with International Baptist Church for a third year and focused primarily with the West Oahu Community Church which launched last year. They held their first services February 5th. Houston Project

The Houston Project is our missionary journey to OUR city. During the evenings of July 8-12, Houston’s First Baptist Church members will share the love of Christ in multiple locations across Houston. Ministry includes Vacation Bible School, Youth Events, Adult Ministry, Food Distribution, Sports Ministry, Evangelism, Refugee Ministry and Prayer. Family Mission Trip

Date: Fri, Jul 27, 2012
Cost: $30 per person, max of $120 per family.

Focus: Family Trip & Evangelism

A one-day mission trip; the team will help rebuild a local church as well as homes in the local community. Activities range from painting & landscaping to ministering to those in need. $30.00 per person, maximum amount any one family pays will be $120.00 per family. Scholarships are available. Montana Indian Reservation Trip

Date: Aug 14-21, 2012
Cost: $750
Team Leader: Paul Ragsdale
Focus: Church Planting & Evangelism

The trip will be an opportunity to assist Pastor Bruce Plummer (Montana Indian Ministries) as he serves Native Americans at the Montana Crow Powwow. The team will give away water and coffee, as well as pick up trash around the dance arbor. Team members will share the Gospel via Evangecubes and tracts. The Crow Fair is the largest powwow in Montana, with approximately 30,000 attendees. The team will sleep in teepees and tents on the Reservation. One night will be spent in a Billings hotel. Food is cooked on-site.

Houston’s First Family Mission Trip to Galveston

Families head to Galveston for a one-day mission trip. The focus this year was helping rebuild a local church as well as homes in the local community. Activities range from painting & landscaping to ministering to those in need.

Boston, MA Trip

Date: Jul 26-Aug 2, 2010

The team will connect with Redeemer Fellowship Church with Pastor Chris Bass. There will be light construction, but primarily Bible studies, outreach, and evangelism. The trip will be in June but exact dates will be confirmed mid-January.


New Orleans, LA Trip

Date: Jul 16-18, 2010

The trip is designed with the purpose of attracting first-time & reluctant mission goers, looking for an inexpensive (only costs are meals, possibly transport, also on the way or near to tourist destinations they might want to go to already anyway), family-friendly (geared specifically to bring your kids), and weekend long trip. The team will connect with Pastor Ed of Temple of New Life Church in NOLA and Houston's First Sunday School class, The Breakfast Club. We will partner and offer a “Share Your Faith Workshop” to the congregation, which is comprised mostly of new Christians. The focus will be the strengthening of their faith & equipping them to share the Good News. Should God’s will lead us, this will be a great way to build a bridge between Pastor Ed, his congregation and Houston's First Baptist for future ideas & support for the unreached areas of New Orleans.


Nashville Mission Trip

Date: Mar 13-19, 2010

Focus: Homeless ministries and evangelism

The trip was geared for college students only. They worked with two homeless ministries called Tent City and Homeless Rescue Mission. The team was also involved in evangelism and prayer walking not only at the homeless ministries but also serve in Vanderbilt University reaching out to the students on campus. The trip included a R&R day in downtown Nashville.


Mexico Trip (Acuña)

Date: Mar 11-14, 2010

Focus: Construction & evangelism

A four (4) day mission trip to Acuña, Mexico located right across the border from Del Rio, Texas, focused on construction projects and served as a platform for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, through on site evangelism, daily devotionals and street witnessing.


Acuña, Mexico Mission Trip

Date: Dec 3-6, 2009

On this trip, we installed security cameras and lights at an orphanage, moved 5 portable living quarters to the rear of the facility, and cleaned/organized 3 buildings—tool shed, storage shed, and living quarters. We also spent time with orphanage children—crafts, bible studies.


Acuña, Mexico Deacon Trip

Date: Oct 15-18, 2009

This missionary journey was for the Deacons of Houston’s First Baptist Church to serve using construction as a platform for sharing the Gospel with the people of Acuna, Mexico.


Hawaii Mission Trip

Date: Oct 13-20, 2009

During this trip, we worked with International Baptist Church in Hawaii (internationalchurch.us). The mission trip was geared towards adults 40 and above and included, setting up a library, reviewing donated books for appropriateness, teaching others how to run and maintain the library, evangelistic opportunities, and light construction and maintenance.


Acuña, Mexico Construction Trip

Date: Sep 17-20, 2009
Leader: Ron Obenhaus

This four day mission trip to Acuña, Mexico focused on light construction work at an orphanage including painting, clean up, yard work and loving on the children at this home. The team stayed at Wide Ministries, a facility in Acuña Houston's First supports (www.wideministries.net).
