The purpose of Corner Books is to
extend the message, ministry and mission
of Houston’s First Baptist Church

I AM changes who i am

I AM changes who i am

New release by Pastor Gregg Matte

In his newest book, I AM changes who i am, Pastor Gregg Matte believes that the seven "I AM" statements and the seven miracles recorded in the Gospel of John can give believers a framework for living God's will.  Readers will explore what Jesus says and does and find out what that means for their walk with Him.

Visit the book's dedicated page to watch a video by Pastor Gregg, learn about the life-changing ministry supported by proceeds, and discover more about I AM changes who i am.

* The space

Located in a central part of our campus, Corner Books is at the intersection of two main corridors of the church. The space is designed to be a blending of “books to borrow and books to buy” in a warm and inviting space where people gather or escape, read or listen, relax or explore.

* The books to buy

Actually, you can buy more than just books. The inventory at Corner Books is strategically selected to support the mission of the church. On our shelves, you will find:

  • Messages. All of Pastor Gregg’s previous messages are available on CD. You can even pick up a copy of his message on the day he delivers it at the “Instant Messages” kiosk.
  • Bibles. Being biblical is at the center of the church's vision of being a “relevant biblical community.” Various translations and styles are available for you to choose from—for yourself or for a friend.
  • Milestones Resources. These books and study guides are hand-picked by staff members as tools to help you “grow your soul.” Whether it’s for a class or for your own reading, explore what titles may be right for you at this season of your life.
  • First Family. Blessed by gifted authors and musicians within our church, Corner Books proudly provides several books and CDs by members of Houston’s First.
  • Corner Books Select. In addition to all the great resources mentioned above, we've selected some additional titles and authors that we think you'll enjoy.
  • Correspondence. Pick up a journal for taking notes or a greeting card for writing a note. Corner Books offers a selection of stationery items for your personal use or to share with a friend.

* The books to borrow

The library on the lower level offers a collection of nearly 18,000 titles and various services including:

  • Books. Thousands of books on various topics, such as Christian fiction, biographies, self-help (dating, marriage, parenting, divorce, abortion, addictions, etc.), church history, Christian life, cults and world religions, missions and evangelism. Special sections for Kindergarteners through youth are available, too.
  • Logos Bible Software. Computers equipped with this Bible study tool are available for your use—for free! It’s an award-winning program—and Pastor Gregg recommends it, too!
  • Bible Study Resources. Commentaries and Bibles, surveys and concordances, atlases and dictionaries, lexicons and other tools will help you prepare for a lesson or to simply deepen your own understanding of God’s Word.
  • Beth Moore Study Kits. These kits include videos/DVDs, CDs, cassette tapes, student guides and leader manuals for use when leading a group through one of Beth’s studies.
  • Audio & Visual. DVDs, CDs and videos for all ages!
  • Other Resources. A variety of newspapers, magazines, audio books, and sermons from popular speakers.
  • Research Assistance. Staff members can assist Bible study leaders with research as they prepare their lessons.

* The coffee

We like everything about coffee: the aroma, the taste, and the way it goes with just about any good book. We brew our own coffee to give you the best coffee experience. It’s high quality, brewed fresh several times a day, and served in a nifty cup, too.

* The music

When you walk into Corner Books, we want you to see, smell, and hear things in a new way. One of the key elements of your experience is the music we play. Our special blend of styles and artists will enhance your visit and possibly lead you to discover some new tunes. Don’t care for music while you study? Then bring earplugs! We won’t be offended.

* The Attic

Preschoolers will enjoy exploring the world of reading in the Attic – a kid-friendly space designed just for them! With books to borrow on one side and books to buy on the other, parents are sure to find something for their future readers to enjoy!

* The volunteers

Want to join the Corner Books team? Volunteers are needed to brew coffee, run the register, assist customers and much more.

Visit the Corner Books Volunteers page to sign up and pretty soon you’ll be wearing a snazzy black Corner Books apron!
