CORNER BOOKS VOLUNTEERS

Extending the message, ministry and mission of Houston's First Baptist Church

A new chapter begins at Houston's First with the opening of Corner Books. Located in a central part of our campus, Corner Books sits at the intersection of two main corridors in our church. This new ministry of our church will be a blending of "books to borrow and books to buy" in a warm and inviting space where people gather or escape, read or listen, study or relax.

Docents

Volunteers serve as guides through the newly organized lower level library, answer questions, assist with checking out and returning books, and place items back on the shelves. Ideal volunteers would be knowledgeable of the collection and "mentor-minded" as they help patrons find what they're looking for.

Curators

Volunteers operate and maintain the coffee station on the main level by brewing coffee, keeping the area tidy and taking cash payments. Ideal volunteers would be meticulous, organized, friendly and have a passion for people and coffee!

Messengers

Volunteers operate the "Instant Messages" kiosk in Corner Books on Sundays, selling Pastor Gregg's messages from that day for cash only. Ideal volunteers would be friendly, fast and have a passion for extending the message of our church.

Brokers

Volunteers provide high quality customer service while operating the bookstore/library front counter, processing cash, check and credit card payments. Ideal volunteers would be highly detailed, friendly, fast and have a passion for helping people.
