A: We are planning for a public grand opening on October 2, 2011.
A: The worship gatherings will be on Sundays at 11am. At most services, Pastor Gregg’s same-day message will be broadcast via video, and there will be live worship at every service.
A: We will meet in the tunnel level of 1010 Lamar St (@ Fannin). The 6,300 square feet space seats 400, and we are putting $500,000 into renovation and technology. We’re also installing a Mobile Corner Books kiosk and making space for a Connection Center and Bible Study gatherings.
A: Live worship will be led by the resident worship team for Downtown.
A: As the mission of our church is to make disciples of Jesus, of course we will have Bible Studies! Downtown Bible Studies will be on-campus and off-campus, on Sunday and on other days of the week. Our initial Bible Studies will meet on-campus at 1010 Lamar at 9:30am on Sundays.
A: Free parking is available on area streets and in the garage connected to the 1010 Lamar building. Welcome Team members will be on hand at the garage entrance to assist you.
A: The METRORail Main Street Square station is 2 blocks away. We encourage you to use METRORail.
A: When we launch, we do not plan on having programming or facilities for children. However, children are welcome to attend the worship service.
A: The Downtown Campus launch is funded by the current budget of the church. Our operating budget will be self-sustaining from tithes and offerings by Downtown members.
A: Messages by Pastor Gregg will be delivered at most services via video. This allows us to have consistent messages across all campuses, and the video messages are same-day, not delayed. This also allows Campus Pastor Lee Hsia time to work on outreach and equipping. We will have occasional live teaching by Lee and other guest speakers.
A: HighPoint Bible Study for the Downtown business community will meet on Wednesdays at noon. As Bible Study classes form, small group gatherings in homes and offices will eventually form from those Bible Studies. Downtown specific XEE relational evangelism classes will be offered at least twice a year. We will have specific Downtown outreaches to the business, medical, arts, college, and homeless communities. In addition, all the programming of At The Loop Campus are available to Downtown members.
A: When members join, they join Houston’s First. We are one church meeting at multiple locations.
A: We are planning to perform baptisms offsite at an outdoor downtown venue at regular intervals.
