Hunt Retreat

You might call Hunt Retreat in Brookshire, TX, our church's first multisite campus. Worship services and Life Bible Studies may not be held there each Sunday, but since the mid-'70s, ministry has happened on those 14.7 acres just 40 miles west of The Loop Campus.

In August 2013, the next chapter in the story of Hunt Retreat began when a new retreat center was unveiled — an entirely new structure that took nearly two years to plan, design, build, and dream.

Hunt Retreat is available for use by Ministries of Houston's First Baptist Church, as well as other Christian churches and non-profit Christian organizations. Below are the usage guidelines:

What You'll Find

The first things you'll notice as you enter the Hunt Retreat gate are the more than 60 stately pecan trees all around you. The state tree of Texas, these trees provide natural beauty, refreshing shade, and — of course — pecans. (Help yourself!)

The retreat center is just ahead with an expansive front porch inviting you to your stay. Here's what you'll find inside and on the rest of the property:

  • 8,800 square feet of air-conditioned living space
  • 9 bedrooms with beds for 54 people
    • each bedroom decorated around a distinct theme
    • each bed has its own light and outlet for personal electronic devices
  • 9 1/2 restrooms (2 are ADA compliant)
  • 10' ceilings throughout
  • central Great Room with fireplace and 31' ceiling at its peak
  • two 71' wide porches
    • include rocking chairs and outdoor furniture
    • one porch faces east and one faces west over Bessie's Creek
  • full kitchen with seating for approximately 30 people
  • game room with tables for board games, card games, and more
  • softball field
  • lawns for outdoor games and picnic
