Year-End Giving

Dec 11, 2015

As 2015 draws to a close, prayerfully consider how God may lead you to give to Houston's First Baptist Church.

Whether your donations are for a specified purpose — such as Unstoppable Gospel: The Offering — or for general use through our Great Commission Budget, the following information can help you process your gifts so that they can qualify as 2015 donations with the IRS.

Donation Deadlines

Depending on how you submit your year-end donations, they must meet the following deadlines in order to qualify as 2015 donations with the IRS:

  • ONLINE: Contributions submitted via our Generosity page must be made before midnight (Central) on Thursday, December 31, 2015.
  • MOBILE: Contributions submitted on a mobile device must be made before midnight (Central) on Thursday, December 31, 2015. To make a mobile contribution, text your campus code to 77977 to receive a designated link:
    • HFBCLoop, HFBCCypress, HFBCDowntown, HFBCSienna, HFBCSpanish, HFBCWebcast
  • BY MAIL: The postmark date on the envelope must be before January 1, 2016. Contributions should be mailed to Houston’s First Baptist Church, 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024.
  • IN PERSON: Contributions must be brought to the church’s business office by 4:30p on Thursday, December 31, 2015. The business office is located at The Loop Campus at 7401 Katy Freeway. (You can also place your contribution in the offering plate at any campus throughout December.)

Please contact Sara Johnson, 713.957.5806, should you desire additional information.

Unstoppable Gospel: The Offering

Donations to Unstoppable Gospel: The Offering (also known as the World Mission Offering) are received from November 2015 through January 2016. Every dollar makes a difference when it comes to supporting the work of taking the Gospel to every corner of the world. Houston's First sends 85% of the offering to the International Mission Board, 10% to the North American Mission Board, and 5% to the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention.

You may donate to Unstoppable Gospel: The Offering online or use special envelopes available at each Houston's First campus.

Gifts of Stock

The gifting of stock to the church is a “win-win” situation for both the donor and the church. Since the church is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, the gift will qualify as a charitable contribution and is tax deductible. This is a very simple and easy process that can be coordinated through the Financial Services office of the church.

If you would like to donate a gift of stock, or desire additional information, please contact Amber Willet, 713.957.5807. On all tax questions, it is advisable to consult with a tax advisor or CPA.

Estate Planning

Estate planning may be the most important act of stewardship any of us will ever undertake. It is, at its core, the process of determining to whom we should transfer the stewardship of all that has been entrusted to us when we are called to step into eternity.

Houston’s First Baptist Church has partnered with PhilanthroCorp, a trusted estate planning firm, to help you put together an estate plan that accomplishes your goals. Since 1997, PhilanthroCorp has served hundreds of the most respected faith-based organizations and thousands of their supporters. There is no cost to you for their assistance.

PhilanthroCorp serves the local church by helping members understand that estate planning is essentially a spiritual process before it is a legal process, and may be the greatest act of stewardship they will ever complete. Their knowledgeable and passionate team strives to relieve much of the complexity associated with estate planning by guiding members through a gentle and confidential planning process, resulting in a great ministry to the member and a powerful outcome for the church.
