Pastoral Care provides a ministry to individuals and families affected by illness, hospitalization, terminal diagnosis, disease, and bereavement, as well as their long-term effects. We visit all area hospitals, health care and hospice facilities and the homebound within a 75-mile radius of Houston's First.
Our staff is available 24 hours a day, everyday of the year. To schedule an appointment, to share a concern, or for medical emergencies during office hours call 713.957.6760. After office hours & holidays, call the Minister on Call at 713.876.8016.
Operating Philosophy: Guided by the challenge and spirit set forth in James 5:11, 13-15 “...the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful...and prayer offered in faith will restore...” And the promise of Isaiah 53: 4-5 that reminds us that “Our grief or sickness He Himself bore, and our sorrows or pain He carried...”

Cancer support group whose sole purpose is to encourage, present hope, fellowship and prayer.

Monday Gathering Place Social (GPS) is designed to meet the needs of adults diagnosed with early to moderate stages of memory loss due to dementia, stroke or injury.

Homebound Ministering to those who are confined to their home or nursing home for extended periods of time through literature, cards, phone calls and periodic visits from our volunteer team.

Hope House Ministry will provide housing in a cozy, home environment for a patient and family member who come to Houston during outpatient treatment in one of Houston’s many medical treatment facilities. Patients and their caregivers will not only have a safe, warm, relaxing home to reside in as they travel back and forth to treatment, but they will also be loved on and prayed over by the many ministries of Houston’s First Baptist Church.
