Dena is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern. She has completed a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling and a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, both at Dallas Theological Seminary. Additionally, she is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator for dating, engaged, and married couples.
Dena has experience conducting therapy with adults, adolescents, and children, both individually and in groups. She has worked with clients representing a broad range of issues including relational problems, depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, personality disorders, trauma, self-harm, and chemical dependency. Her ministry experience within the church includes leading small groups, discipling women, and working with youth and children. Her vocational ministry experience includes being an overseas missionary for two years and being a program director at a Christian non-profit organization for five years. She also worked for several years in the business world, having completed her undergraduate degree in mathematics.
Regardless of the client’s starting point, Dena has a heart to see God’s truth and healing bring insight and transformation into the client’s life. She holds firmly to a biblical worldview in all areas of life, including counseling. Her theoretical orientation is eclectic, incorporating spiritual, cognitive-behavioral, solutionfocused, and person-centered approaches in counseling. Dena has extensive experience in cross-cultural settings, and is sensitive to the specific nuances of each client’s background and environment.
