M. Ed, LPC-Intern

Qualifications: I am a former school counselor with a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana, Monroe. My formal education has prepared me to work with individuals of all ages, as well as families and groups as a counselor.

Experience: Since earning my counseling degree in May 2001, I have worked as a school counselor at the elementary and Pre K settings and at multiple sites in Spring Branch Independent School District. I worked with students in classroom, small group, and individual settings in addition to consulting with parents, teachers, and administrators concerning children’s needs and appropriate home and school interventions.

Nature of Consultation: My approach is from a biblical perspective that utilizes treatment methods such as Theraplay, a relationship-focused approach based on healthy attachments. In the consulting setting, other techniques may be utilized to reach specific goals of the client. Goals are mutually agreed upon by both the client and counselor and should be consistent with biblical truth. Treatment techniques utilized include, but are not limited to, active listening, assessments, homework, psycho-educational discussions, reading assignments, and prayer. Goals should be consistent with biblical truth.
