Qualifications: I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling from the Houston Graduate School of Theology in December of 2015 and am currently pursuing the Licensed Professional Counseling licensure. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Music and a minor in psychology at Ouachita Baptist University in the Spring of 2011.
Experience: As an undergraduate, I spent my summers working with youth, as a summer intern, and children, leading bible studies through a summer lunch program. I also spent time in Toronto, Canada with a church plant during which time I was able to help mentor young women. For the past three years, I have been an administrative assistant at the Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling center in Houston, TX. This job has allowed me to gain experience in the administrative side of counseling as well as complete my in school practicum hours over the past year. I have gained experience in working with individuals (specifically women and teenagers) and couples (engaged and married).
Nature of Counseling: I approach counseling with an eclectic view, specifically focusing on multiple facets from biblical counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. It is my belief that each client is unique and merely needs guidance in recognizing the power of the Holy Spirit inside of them. My goal is to help clients in setting and obtaining goals that are biblically based and aide clients in learning skills that can be applied during and after counseling.
