From 1927 to 1977, Houston's First Baptist Church met at Fannin and Lamar in downtown Houston. In the early 1970s, a popular event was a noon Bible study led by Bro. John Bisagno in the church's Fellowship Hall on Wednesdays.
When the church sold that property and moved to its current location on the Katy Freeway, Deacon Bill Morris negotiated free meeting space in the basement of the Lamar Building so the church could continue the popular Bible study.
Today, HighPoint Bible Study meets on that site, providing downtown workers with physical and spiritual nourishment. It's truly the high point of their week! Everybody is invited—whether you attend Houston's First or not!
Dr. David Self, Executive Pastor at Houston's First Baptist Church, is our primary speaker at HighPoint. Occasionally, our team of guest speakers may fill in, including Gregg Matte, Jason Swiggart, Jerrell Altic and Malcolm Marshall.
HighPoint provides Downtown workers with a spiritual break over lunch in the middle of the week. Bring your own lunch or get some BBQ (cost $8), beginning at 11:30. The speaker begins at 12:10p. Bring a coworker!
