Houston's First is partnering with 250 other churches, ministries, and organizations for 1DayHouston on Sat, Apr 29 — a citywide day of service projects taking place at "Serve Centers" across the greater Houston area.

The Houston's First family is no stranger to coming together to make a difference in our community in Jesus' name. From churchwide efforts like GO Houston to our day-to-day ministries at our Faith Centers, our church embraces opportunities to share the love of Jesus while meeting the practical needs of our neighbors. That's exactly what we'll do at 1DayHouston.

On that day, Houston's First members will serve at Serve Centers along with community volunteers from outside our church who sign up to serve at our hosted Serve Centers. After serving together to bless our city, volunteers will gather for a celebration at the Toyota Center with a special guest artist. An invitation will be given to the thousands in attendance to take their next steps in their relationship with Jesus Christ — perhaps for the very first time.

What is Love Has No Limits?

Love Has No Limits, the organization coordinating 1DayHouston, unites and empowers churches, community champions, ministries and organizations, alongside tens of thousands of volunteers, to provide sustainable solutions to some of the greatest challenges in our community. They hosted 1DayLA in 2021 with more than 50,000 volunteers serving across Los Angeles! Pastor Gregg Matte, Missions Pastor Clark Reynolds, and other Houston's First leaders have met one-on-one with LHNL representatives over the past year to ensure that their beliefs and approach to ministry align with ours.

What is the goal?

The goals of 1DayHouston are to:
  • Unite churches and ministries across the city
  • Tell the community that the churches are “the ones who love”
  • Reach those who are far from Jesus as they are invited to serve alongside Christians

For Houston's First in particular, we want to:

  • Mobilize as many of our people as possible for a day of serving and representing Christ to the city
  • Link arms with large churches and small churches
  • Unite across all of our campuses to impact our community

How do I register?

All registration is done directly through the 1DayHouston.com website. See Register for 1DayHouston below for details.

What are Serve Centers?

You can think of a Serve Center like one of our ministry sites during our church's own GO Houston mission trip to our city. A Serve Center is a designated location where volunteers will gather to work on a specific project or projects. Each campus of Houston's First will host various Serve Centers, with some of them being GO Houston ministry sites from previous years. A full list of these is available here.

What type of work will we do?

1DayHouston will focus on four primary initiatives, with Serve Centers providing different ways to address these goals:

Who will serve at the Serve Centers?

When signing up to serve at 1DayHouston, our church family is invited to serve at one of our Serve Centers. In addition, anybody throughout our city wanting to serve that day can sign up for one of our Serve Centers, too! It will be a great opportunity to meet new people, and for you to invite your own friends and neighbors to serve with us.

  • Houston's First members are welcome to sign up for ANY of the Serve Centers throughout Houston whether's it's one hosted by our church or not.

How long is 1DayHouston?

The service work done on that day will last a few hours, but will not be a full day. The exact schedule will be announced as soon as it is available, and it might vary based on the Serve Center.

Who else is participating?

There are over 250 churches, ministries, and organizations committed to be a part of 1DayHouston. Among them are our friends at Champion Forest Baptist Church, Sagemont Church, and Hope City Church, as well as at Houston Welcomes Refugees, Loving Houston, and Houston Responds. In addition to those organizations, anybody from the community can sign up to serve at 1DayHouston!

What can you tell me about the celebration event?

There will actually be TWO celebrations at the Toyota Center — one on the evening of Sat, Apr 29, and one on the evening of Sun, Apr 30. So many volunteers are expected to be a part of 1DayHouston that we will not all fit at just one celebration! Tickets will be given to volunteers at their respective Serve Centers.
