Sharing Jesus Across Town and Across the Street

Msn Houston 1 8 Sienna 2019

Houston 1:8

July 8–11, 2019

The Sienna Campus is celebrating Houston 1:8 by intentionally engaging others in our neighborhoods with the love of Christ. We call it Neighborhood Life and we do it throughout the year, connecting with our community at a smaller, local level. This year we will have 2 outreach opportunities to choose from — Neighborhood Life Track and Ministry Site Track.

Neighborhood Life Track

Our Neighborhood Life Track team will host Backyard Kids Clubs in their backyards. These teams will be living missionally in their neighborhoods as we engage families with a simple yet engaging “mini-VBS” in our backyards. We are looking for families that would like to serve as host homes as well as families that would like to serve as the lead. We will equip you with everything you need. Ideally each of these “sites” will have 2–4 families from Houston's First Sienna. This track is great for everyone (families, singles, empty nesters)Sign up to be a Backyard Kids Club Host home or to help lead a Backyard Kids Club.

Ministry Site Track

Our Ministry Site Track team will partner with local organizations to go out and be the “hands and feet” of Christ as we minister. We have two options for you and your family to choose from:

  • Houston Welcomes Refugees – God is bringing the nations to H-Town. During this track, you and your family will learn about all the ways “HWR” ministers to refugee families when they arrive in Houston from all over the world. We will also be collecting and packing Welcome Kits to help these families meet physical needs they have as they transition into our communities. This site is a great option for families with Elementary Age & older children.
  • Work Site — Partner with us as we go out into the community to serve with some work projects. We will be blessing some organizations / schools in our area with some simple beautification projects such as power washing & landscaping. This is a great track for individuals who like to “Get The Job Done.” If a family wants to participate it is recommended they have children Middle School Age and older.

After Houston 1:8

The week of Houston 1:8 is meant to be the start (or a continuation) of relationships with your neighbors. When the week is over, the ministry continues! Keep in contact with the people you meet during the week, invite others over for dinner or coffee, invite people to church — and continue to pray for your neighborhood!
