Hurricane Michael Relief

Oct 12, 2018

For the past five summers, The HUB Student Ministry has travelled to the Panama City Beach for Rush Week — a week of ministry combined with camp-style fun. Through these experiences, Houston's First staff, students, and adult leaders have developed relationships with our ministry partners throughout the local community — churches, schools, and others.

Now, as Panama City Beach residents recover from Hurricane Michael, Houston's First is making plans to send teams to the area to provide help and encouragement. Read below about how you can participate as we reach out to love our nation — and our friends.

Sending Relief Teams

Church staff members are in contact with partners in Panama City Beach to assess how we can be of help. No dates have been set, nor have specific projects been identified.

In the meantime, we ask anybody who might want to travel to the Florida to please complete a short volunteer interest form. Completing this form is not a commitment to going; rather, it simply provides us with a list of people who are interested. The church will be in touch with you as plans begin to formulate.

Keep in mind:

  • travel expenses would be your responsibility just as with any mission trip
  • students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian since chaperones will not be provided

Financial Support

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of the Houston's First family, we already had funds available so that we could send financial donations to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief of the North American Mission Board and Mercy Chefs.
