Alessia Madkins

MA, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sam Houston State University in 1986 and a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University in 2013. I am certified through PREPARE/ENRICH and SYMBIS and provide both pre-marital and marital counseling. My education and life experiences have equipped me to counsel with individuals, couples, and groups.

During my graduate program, I conducted therapy with adolescents, young adults, women, couples, married couples and families. I also co-facilitated marriage intensive, co-facilitated relationship-boundaries groups, marriage retreats and blended-family workshops. Additionally, I have over 10 years working as a school administrator and teacher working with children in cross-cultural settings, diverse ages and backgrounds from kindergarten through college.

My approach to counseling is based in an eclectic orientation utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution Focused theories from a Biblically based perspective meeting clients where they are emotionally and spiritually, then, together with the Holy Spirit, helping clients take the next step in their walk with God. Other theories may be utilized in response to the needs of the client. It is my desire and privilege to be included in my clients search as they experience the fullness of knowing who they are in Christ. I see the journey of counseling as a committed and dynamic process. I work collaboratively with my clients to create realistic treatment goals in helping to achieve a sense of accomplishment by modifying sessions to fit each individuals need. The greatest blessing is watching my clients experience the freedom in knowing who they are in Christ and seeing God bring wonderful changes their lives.

As well as counseling individuals, adolescents, young adults and women, I workswith marriages, couples, and blended families with an emphasis on healing relationships, communication, and forgiveness. Additionally, I have experience facilitating couples classes, marriage enrichment seminars, and small group counseling.

I enjoy celebrating with clients as they begin to recognize and experience a spiritual insight regarding the truth of who they really are “in Christ” within an atmosphere of acceptance, love, and prayer. I am married and have three adult children.
