Shannon is working toward a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Houston Baptist University and will graduate in May 2022. Shannon also has Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin and formerly taught high school English.
Shannon has a particular passion for working with parents and siblings of people with high medical needs, infertility, postpartum depression, and grief/ loss. She also enjoys working with couples who seek to enrich their marriage, begin on a solid foundation, or work through conflict. Additionally, Shannon works with youth as they navigate various challenges and life transitions. Shannon has professional experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and stress. She also has professional experience working with survivors of domestic violence.
Besides her years in education, Shannon mentored youth for 12 years at Houston’s First Baptist Church. Shannon also volunteers as a peer mentor for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit parents. She has been a speaker and writer for ministries such as Waiting in Hope, Hope Mommies, and Abide, as well as co-authoring the Overcome Journal for Scarlet & Gold.
On a personal note, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and two school-aged daughters. She loves books, coffee, and travel.
