Many children have experienced traumatic events in their lives such as abandonment, loss, abuse, and neglect. All children have experienced living through a global pandemic. These forms of trauma have the potential to impact every developmental area of a growing child. It can change a child at the core of who they are, impacting how they communicate, attach, and behave.

This training is geared specifically toward teachers and administrators and helps all educators learn how they can best reach and teach students who have experienced trauma. Moving from being consciously compassionate to competently compassionate is the heartbeat of the Trauma Competent Caregiver training curriculum.

6 CPE hours for Texas teachers are available for this course.

  • The course is facilitated by Jenny Sheets, an affiliate trainer for the Advanced Trauma Competent Caregiver series through Trauma Free World.


  • The Loop Campus of Houston's First is located at 7401 Katy Freeway near the interchange of the West 610 Loop and the Katy Freeway.
  • The course will be held in the Fellowship Center.


  • Parking is available in both the west and south parking lots of the church.
    • From the west lot, use the Main Entrance.
    • From the south lot, use the Fitness & Recreation Center (FRC) Entrance.
