A partnership between The Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center and Legacy 685 has birthed a camp designed to educate parents and help both parent and child build a connection. This camp is led by Mary Ring, MAMFC, LPC-S, LMFT-S, RPT-S and staff from the counseling center family team. Legacy 685 provides support for this camp through connecting families that need help and providing additional support staff.
There are 6 web based seminars to complete during the first part of the camp process. This is to give parents a chance to process information and begin to get a foundation for the work that will be done during the one day camp. As you are completing the online course there will a Q&A night as well as two practical seminar nights. It will end with a one day camp that has been designed to take what you have learned through the online seminars and be able to practically apply it and work through the knowledge with your children in a guided day through fun activities. Our staff will be present to answer questions and guide you through the various activities.
The goal of the camp is to provide attachment education and tools to help your child build healthy connections with you that will last a lifetime. As a child learns the safety in connecting with family, it serves as a necessary template as he/she learns to develop healthy relationships with others and with God. This camp is for families with children of all ages. We are trying a new concept with online seminars for this camp so the parent education material can be completed at your convenience rather than on set dates. Please register ASAP to begin online seminars. Once we have reached the needed number of families to have a camp we will set dates for the camp and the Q&A nights.
“For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
