I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern in the state of Texas and a Nationally Certified Counselor as designated by the National Board of Certified Counselors. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and a certification as a Director of Christian Education. Prior to counseling, I served as a Director of Youth Ministry for six years. While leading and teaching in the church I also lay-counseled children, young adults, couples, and families.
As a counselor I work with youth and adults struggling with faith crisis, depression, anxiety, boundary issues, identity crisis, and substance abuse. I also work with individuals and couples struggling with infidelity, marital discord, divorce and parenting issues. I especially enjoy helping youth and adults find their identity in Christ. I approach counseling from a biblical perspective and a family systems approach, utilizing techniques from cognitive-behavioral theory. These techniques include, but are not limited to, active listening, assessments, homework, open questions and discussion, therapeutic confrontation, reading assignments, and prayer.
