Ashley Mann

MA, LPC-INTERN

Ashley Mann has a Master of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University, and she is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern. In addition, she has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a minor in Psychology from The University of Alabama. She gained experience in counseling in Dallas at Genesis Women’s Shelter and Support. She worked with individuals and groups consisting of women suffering from domestic violence and abusive relationships. She has gained further knowledge of addiction, trauma, career counseling, marriage and family therapy, and interpersonal relationships through the classes offered at Dallas Baptist University. She works primarily with young adults dealing with anxiety/depression, life transitions, and conflict resolution in relationships.

Ashley approaches counseling from a Biblical perspective, focusing towards an emotion focused and cognitive-behavioral approach; however, she will use other counseling techniques when needed. I believe in meeting the client where he/she is at on an emotional level. Ashley finds value in first identifying and connecting with the client as a means to building a foundation of trust and respect. Change is difficult but it is not impossible, with the proper support and the help of the Holy Spirit it is attainable. She feels her role as a therapist is to empower and encourage the client as they learn more about themselves and build confidence to lead their lives on the narrow path that followers of Christ are called to. Ashley plans to come alongside her clients and walk with them as they move towards freedom. The techniques she uses include: active listening, reflecting of feelings, narrative therapy, cognitive reframing, scripture, and prayer. She believes that clients are the experts on their own lives and that the answers to their problems lie within them. There are moments in life when we all struggle and need assistance in shifting our perspective to press forward. The purpose of counseling is to attain individual and relational goals set and agreed upon by the client and the counselor. Goals should be consistent with biblical truth.
