I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (LPC-Intern) in the State of Texas. In addition to being at JPMCC since 2018, my clinical experiences have included counseling in a community clinic in Denver as well as working in a women’s safehouse for those leaving sex-trafficking, domestic violence, and addiction. I counsel women, men, couples, and children on a variety of issues including trauma, life transitions, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, addictions, grief, and identity formation. I am also EMDR-trained and use this with a variety of therapeutic issues.
I graduated from Denver Seminary with my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Previously, I attended Washington and Lee University for my bachelor’s and graduated with a major in Psychology and a minor in Art History. In between these, I spent a year doing ministry with college students in the Middle East.
I hope to help you create and move towards goals so that you can be prepared for the challenges of life, the ones in the past, present, and future. God has uniquely equipped the Church to care for each other using different gifts and to bring light and release shame so that we might have life abundant. I love hearing and co-creating narratives of hope and seeing the strengths in each person. My therapeutic strengths include cultivating genuine relationships with my clients, creating a safe space, coming alongside, pointing towards hope and connection, and seeking to address and bring restoration for the whole person.
I approach each client with a desire to understand where you are at right now and what your desires are for counseling. Through this process, I pull from various counseling theories depending on you and your specific goals. These techniques come from Narrative Therapy, Spiritual Integration, Person-Centered Therapy, and cognitive and behavioral interventions. I follow your lead on how you do or do not want to incorporate your faith into counseling as I enter into your world. For those who do, I would be happy to discuss your particular desires for bringing this into our time.
