Car Care Ministry

Begins in 20 days 02 hrs 26 min

The Car Care Ministry (CCM) is a ministry geared towards the single parents and widows of Houston’s First Baptist Church. CCM is dedicated to providing automobile service and minor repairs for these individuals whose budgets may be stretched to the point that maintaining transportation for work, family needs and everyday life becomes a heavy burden.

Men, want to serve as a volunteer mechanic or help at a CCM event?

Men, without your help this ministry will be ineffective. In order to serve with the CCM, please register online below and specify your skills and any tools you are able to bring.

All CCM events are held at the church and are for light maintenance including: oil changes, fluid checks, air filters, brake inspection, battery changes and assessments.

Due to our CYSNA Protection Policy, if a minor wants to serve at the Car Care event as a volunteer mechanic, they may only attend if they are with a parent or guardian and must be registered with the adult/guardian. No exceptions allowed.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact our CYSNA Director, Jenny Sheets, at

Women, need work done on your vehicle?

CCM is a volunteer led ministry that holds car care events approximately four times a year. This ministry provides free labor and honest advice, and each individual is asked to purchase any part(s) being installed. We primarily focus on routine maintenance and can offer recommendations for maintenance that should be performed by a professional mechanic.

While not every car problem can be solved by CCM, we can help determine a plan of action that will sometimes result in cheaper repairs. It is very difficult and usually impossible to “diagnose” car problems over the phone. Please register and come to a CCM event for a car assessment.

Routine maintenance that CCM can do (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Assessments (check engine light)
  • Oil changes
  • Battery
  • Air filters
  • Fluid checks
  • Lights (some)
  • Alternator inspection
  • Brake inspection

Maintenance that CCM cannot do (this list is not exhaustive):

  • State safety inspection
  • Tire rotation
  • Air conditioning
  • Transmission
  • Timing belt
  • Body work/alignment

If you have an automotive emergency, please contact a professional mechanic shop.

CCM events are held at The Loop Campus of Houston's First (the South Parking Lot at 7401 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024).
