Habitat for Humanity builds decent and affordable homes around the world in partnership with families in need of a decent place to live. Habitat homebuyers help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.
Habitat for Humanity homes look different around the world to fit in with the many styles and traditions found in the communities where the houses are built. But no matter where they are built, all Habitat houses follow the same guiding principles:
Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for the homeowner family’s needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable.
Each day starts at 7:30 and ends at 2 pm. Houston Habitat will provide bottled water for hydration, tools, and all the materials needed for each day. The volunteers need to bring their own lunch and snacks.
7450 N Wayside Dr., Houston TX 77028. Staff and/or traffic cones will direct volunteers to designated parking areas. Walk to the Houston Habitat tent for check-in. Then take the shuttle service to the build site.
Dress with safety in mind. Clothes should fit comfortably, but should not be baggy (long sleeves should be buttoned). Clothing should not have obscene or controversial messages or be overly tight or revealing. Shorts should be no less than mid-thigh length. No open toe, open heel, or high heel shoes are allowed.
