The Thursday before Easter is known as "Maundy Thursday." The term "maundy" is a shortened form of mandatum — the Latin word for "command." It was on this day — the evening before Jesus' crucifixion — that He gathered with His disciples for their last supper together. There, He washed their feet and gave them this commandment:
"I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another." — John 13:34
The Houston's First family at the Downtown Campus will remember Jesus' sacrifice at our Broken For You service on Thu, Mar 29, as we gather in praise, prayer, and preparation for Easter. The evening will also include observance of the Lord's Supper.
Visit our Easter page for information about Easter worship services at the Downtown Campus on Sun, Apr 1.
