SMS Campaign Terms of Service

SMS Campaign Terms of Service for “HoustonsFirst”

  1. Users of the HoustonsFirst campaign will receive autoreply SMS messages with requested information when they submit a chosen keyword to the short code. Most keywords will not subscribe the user unless otherwise noted. There are four types of use cases:
    1. Marketing — promoting events and opportunities available at the church
    2. Donations — providing a link to our online giving platform
    3. Authentication — enabling users to subscribe to text distribution lists
    4. Lead Conversions — providing a link to our online Welcome Card for guests
  2. If you subscribe to a distribution list using a designated keyword, you can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the short code. After you send the SMS message "STOP" to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, sign up as you did the first time or contact and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
  3. If you are experiencing issues with the SMS messaging program you can reply with the keyword "HELP" for more assistance, or you can get help directly at
  4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered SMS messages.
  5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any SMS messages sent to you from us and to us from you.
    1. For non-subscription keywords, you will receive one SMS message per request. Most keywords used by Houston's First are non-subscription keywords. Examples of these include:
      1. "MESSAGE" to receive a link to our online sermons
      2. "KAINOS" to receive a link to our online giving platform
      3. "MISSIONS" to receive a link to our upcoming mission trips
    2. For subscription keywords, you will receive two SMS messages when you initially subscribe to the keyword. Beyond that, message frequency varies. Subscription keywords are noted as such when they are promoted or publicized by the church. Examples of these include:
      1. "THE5" for people who attend The5 on Sunday evenings at The Loop Campus
      2. "RUSHWEEK" for students and parents to receive regular updates about Rush Week (our summer mission trip for 9th-12th grade students).
    3. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
  6. If you have any questions regarding privacy, please read our privacy policy: {link to privacy policy}
