An Update from the Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center

Tue, Mar 24, 2020

Due to the “work from home” mandate, we will no longer be offering in-person counseling at any of our campuses. Sessions will be by phone or online only.

The Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center is committed to providing an emotionally, physically and spiritually safe and nurturing environment for both staff and clients. While this is part of our ongoing mission, it is perhaps needed now more than ever.

Many of our emotional and spiritual struggles are intensified during times of corporate crisis. If you are feeling overwhelmed and the limits of your current support system and spiritual resources are being exceeded, you may want to reach out to someone who has professional training. Our counselors can provide you with the skills, resources, insight and prayer that can truly make a difference in how well you “hunker down”.

Current clients that have appointments will still receive appointment confirmation calls or emails from our administrative staff. The platforms for sessions will be by either phone, doxy.me, VSEE, or Zoom and your counselor will contact you with information on which platform you will be using and how to get set up to use it. Our video platforms are encrypted and meet all state and federal standards for delivery of mental health services.

Administrative staff will inform you of payment options via email or during your reminder phone call.

If you wish to schedule an appointment or if you need more information regarding our services, please reach out by phone at 713.335.6462 or email us at Counseling.Center@HoustonsFirst.org.

Visit our "Coronavirus Updates" page here for more about how Houston's First is responding.

The purpose of the Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center is to provide biblically based, clinically competent, and Spirit-sensitive counseling, promoting the emotional, psychological, and spiritual health of individuals, marriages, and families. We seek to help with personal and interpersonal problems through the application of biblical truths. The Bible and the Holy Spirit are the primary agents in counseling and teaching.
