Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer (Women)

Tuesdays, Sep 6–Nov 15 @ 10a–12p — Sienna Campus (Worship Center)
Facilitator: Dana McCarrell & Erin York

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.

The Enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

This 7-week study of Ephesians 6 by Priscilla Shirer will teach us how to pray with power against the enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy our lives and the lives of those we love. This bible study includes personal study at home and a video group discussion during the Tuesday gatherings.

Week 1: Sizing Up the Enemy
Week 2: The Belt of Truth
Week 3: The breastplate of Righteousness
Week 4: The Shoes of Peace
Week 5: The Shield of Faith
Week 6: The Helmet of Salvation

The Book of James

Option 1: Wednesdays, Sep 14–Oct 12 @ 6:30–8p — Location TBA
Option 2: Wednesdays, Oct 19 – Nov 16 @ 6:30–8p — Location TBA
Facilitator: Matthew Savage

James writes to believers who are in the midst of trials and suffering, yet want to live lives that please the Lord. James emphasizes that true faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. We will unpack the dense truth contained in the book of James and allow God’s Word to challenge us to move toward a vibrant faith that impacts every square inch of life.

Facilitator: My name is Matthew Savage, and I am delighted to begin serving as your Minister of Campus Development. For the past 14 years, I had the joy of serving as the Lead Pastor of Journey Church in Everett, Washington. My wife, Nikki, and I are excited to return to Houston. We grew up in Friendswood and Clear Lake, so we are familiar with the great city of Houston. We are honored to join the Houston’s First family. I hope you will join me for an intriguing study of the book of James this fall.

Week 2: Chapter 2- Fruitful Faith
