Women Invited to Celebrate Mentors

Oct 22, 2013

Houston's First has a long legacy of discipling and mentoring people in their faith, and even developing future ministry leaders in the process. The Women's Ministry is a perfect example of that dedication to looking ahead to the next generation.

Now, a woman who credits Houston's First with developing her as a leader for Christ invites the women of her church to a special event celebrating mentorship.

Anita Carman (above, lower right) is the Founder and President of Inspire Women, an organization that reaches thousands every year through citywide events, radio and publications with year round programs to help women "find their spark" in service and training through leadership mentoring, scholarships and grants.

On Fri, Nov 1, Inspire Women is hosting their 2013 Conference in conjunction with Mentor Appreciation Day as officially proclaimed by the City of Houston. The conference will highlight Houston's top 50 female mentors. Among those being recognized include five from Houston's First shown in the photo above:

  • Nancy Taylor
  • Jaye Martin
  • Mary Ann Bridgwater
  • Carolyn O'Neal
  • Marge Caldwell (posthumously)

In honor of the Women's Ministry of Houston's First headed by Carolyn O'Neal, women from our church are invited to the conference on a VIP guest pass. To redeem your pass, follow these instructions:

  1. Visit the event registration page here
  2. Select 1 ticket
  3. Fill in Attendee as Myself (If you are registering a friend, select New Individual)
  4. In the In Honor of field, enter HFBC Women's Ministry

The Inspire Women Houston 2013 Conference takes place on Fri, Nov 1, at First Methodist Houston — Westchase at 10570 Westpark Drive. The full schedule, list of speakers, and special guest artists can be found at Inspire Women's website.
