Pregnancy Resources

Jun 24, 2022

Pastor Gregg Matte comments on the Supreme Court's decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson case handed down on June 24, 2022. See below for a variety of pregnancy resources and how Houston's First is ready to provide care, support, and encouragement when needed.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

— Psalm 139:13

Pregnancy Resources

As Pastor Gregg mentions in the video above, Houston's First believes we have a responsibility as Christians to help mothers who are expecting. We not only care about the child, but the parents, too! If you are pregnant and are not sure what to do next, we want to come alongside you and see that you get the care and support you need.

This page provides resources for you to consider — some that are part of our church and some that are trusted partners in the community. Also, you'll find resources below that are not directly related to expectant mothers, such as our adoption ministry and infertility support group. There are many facets to pregnancy and Houston's First seeks to care for people wherever they might be.

A Listening Ear

No matter what your situation might be, you may want to reach out to a trusted staff member to discuss the next best step to take. Our Women's Ministry directors at each of our campuses are available and would be honored to hear your story, pray with you, provide encouragement, help point you to the appropriate resources — or to simply be a listening ear.

Pregnancy Centers

Houston's First partners with the following Houston-area pregnancy centers in various ways, such as prayer, financial support, in-kind donations, and volunteers.

Counseling Center

Our Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center (JPMCC) at Houston's First provides "biblically-based, clinically-competent, and Spirit-sensitive counseling, promoting the emotional, psychological, and spiritual health of individuals, marriages, and families." The JPMCC offers various formats of counseling throughout the year, including individual and couple counseling, family counseling, group counseling, support groups, and more.

  • Services are available to anyone, whether they attend Houston's First or not.
  • Services are offered at The Loop, Cypress, and Sienna Campuses of Houston's First.

Learn more about the JPMCC here. To make an appointment or ask about available services, call 713.335.6462.

Adoption, Foster, & Orphan Care

Our Legacy 68:5 ministry at Houston's First provides connection, community, and funding to families that are compelled to move toward adoption in compassion for the orphan. We know that this work is beautiful but difficult and just begins at placement. Our commitment is to come alongside pre- and post-placement families and caregivers to connect, equip, and sustain them, providing hope in the midst of the journey.

Learn more about Legacy 68:5 and meet their team here.

Infertility

Our Waiting In Hope support group exists to walk alongside those struggling with the grief of difficulty conceiving — whether it is infertility, miscarriage, or waiting to adopt. The fall session of Waiting In Hope will meet every other Tuesday at 6:30p from Sep 6–Dec 13 in Rm 253 at The Loop Campus of Houston's First. If you have questions, email Sophia Garza. There is hope to be found during this season of waiting.
