“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the lonely in families.” — Psalm 68:5-6a

Equip, Connect, Sustain

Legacy 68:5 was established in 2008 to provide connection, community, and funding to families compelled to move toward adoption in compassion for the orphan. Since then, our ministry has grown to serve adoptive, foster, and kinship families through every stage of the journey — from exploration to post-placement and beyond.

Today we connect families with community, equip them with biblical and trauma-informed resources and training, and sustain them through wrap-around care, prayer, financial assistance, and clinical support through The Oaks.

We believe firmly that it is God who forms and restores all families, and that His healing work is accomplished through the commitment of families and caregivers who open their hearts and homes — and through a local church willing to walk alongside them.

Whether you are exploring adoption, fostering, or simply wanting to support others, our ministry is here for you.

FAQs

Anyone! Our ministry serves adoptive, foster, and kinship families at every stage of the journey. Whether you’re exploring, in process, post-placement, or simply wanting to support others caring for vulnerable children, you are welcome.

Adoption is the legal process of permanently welcoming a child into your family. Foster care provides a temporary, safe home for a child while their birth family works toward reunification. Kinship care is when a relative or close family friend steps in to care for a child who can’t remain with their parents. Legacy 68:5 supports families on all three paths.

You belong here. Legacy 68:5 supports families and individuals at every point — whether you’re just beginning to explore, years post-placement, or an adult adoptee. Our gatherings, classes, and clinical care through The Oaks are designed for wherever you are today. Q4: Do I need to be a church member to attend a group or receive support? — No. While many of our families attend Houston’s First, all are welcome. Q5: Is there financial help available for adoptive and foster families? — Yes. Through our Assistance Fund, Legacy 68:5 offers pre-placement and post-placement grants as part of our ministry’s commitment to supporting families at every stage. Fill out our Interest Form to get connected — we’d love to have you be part of our community.
