I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Counseling at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and I received my B.A. in Religion at Baylor University. My formal education has prepared me to work with individuals, families, and groups.
I believe counseling is a process in which the client and the counselor come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systemic fashion toward realizing those goals. To do this I use a combination of techniques including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and EMDR therapy.
I specialize in working with depression, anxiety, anger, codependency, sexual addiction, trauma, and sexual identity issues. I approach counseling from a Biblically informed perspective and can offer a unique perspective for those who wish to approach their counseling experience through the lens of biblical truth. Though I am a Christian counselor, my job is not to impose my values or seek to change your beliefs. I respect the religious beliefs of all persons and will work with anyone who is ready to work towards individual and relational growth.
