Nicole Thompson

Practicum Counselor | Supervisor: Steve Crain

Nicole is a practicum student obtaining her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Houston Christian University and plans to graduate in December 2023. In addition, she has a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Capella University and several years of experience working in social services internationally and in Houston. She volunteers weekly at her church and has led women's groups for many years.

Nicole is passionate about helping individuals, including teenagers, couples, and families, navigate life's transitions and challenges by developing awareness, clarity, and the necessary skills to heal and thrive. Nicole enjoys serving those who need help learning how to manage depression and anxiety effectively and those who have suffered some trauma, including domestic violence. In addition, Nicole welcomes the opportunity to help prepare young couples through pre-marital counseling to be ready for marriage. She looks forward to helping married, and other couples work through some of their relational and other challenges so that their relationship thrives. Her approach is client-centered, genuine, and empathic, and Nicole meets clients where they are. She will empower the client to discover the skills needed to manage life in a way that allows them to thrive, and goals will be mutually developed.

Nicole enjoys spending time with her spouse and three adult children, traveling whenever possible, dining at Houston's wide range of restaurants, and attending Symphonic performances a few times each year. She also makes time for a good movie or novel whenever she can.
