Tim graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy (MA-MFT), and has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Having developed a passion for marriages, and those struggling in relationships in the 1990s, Tim has worked with marriage ministries and various programs to help people improve relationships since that time. Compassion for people and a strong belief that the health and strength of a marriage determines the health and strength of the family, and ultimately, the community is the primary reason why Tim has chosen Counseling as an area to serve. If there is a willingness to change, there is hope to reach our goals.
My approach to counseling is primarily from a cognitive-behavioral perspective as I believe that our thoughts, perspectives, and attitudes tend to influence our emotions and behaviors; however, I will utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches as the client need arises. My techniques are primarily acceptance, active listening, continuous assessment, teaching and homework where appropriate, cognitive restructuring, and reading if the client is willing. I am a Christian based counselor and if it is the desire of the client, I will also include Christian, and/or spiritual aspects such as prayer, Christian principles and philosophy into the counseling process. My goal in counseling is to understand the issues and presenting problems the client, or clients express and to provide hope that desired outcomes can be reached together.
