Support Groups

Counselor-Led Support Groups

Counselor-led support groups offered by the Julianna Poor Memorial Counseling Center at Houston's First are topic-focused, short-term groups led by a counselor facilitating an established curriculum. The focus of such groups is to provide support and education and is not meant to replace a therapy group. Counselor-led support groups are designed to allow participants to process their thoughts and emotions in a confidential and nurturing environment, and to be an introduction to the experience of therapy. The only cost for these groups is the cost of the curriculum, and the groups are open to church members and non-members alike.

Other Support Groups at the Church

Other support groups offered by Houston's First Baptist Church use an established curriculum to help people through either specific life issues or general issues. The focus of such groups is to provide support and education and is not meant to replace a therapy group or individual counseling. These groups are designed to allow participants to process their thoughts and emotions in a confidential and nurturing environment, and to be an introduction to the experience of therapy. The only cost for these groups is the cost of the curriculum, and the groups are open to church members and non-members alike.
