GO GLOBAL CARE AND THE MISSIONARY CARE TEAM ARE INVITING YOU TO BE ON MISSION!

We all have a crucial role to play - God’s heart, and His plan, is to reach every nation, tribe and tongue with the gospel and to unite all peoples in Christ.

Missionaries are flesh and blood just like each of us. They struggle the same way we do in many areas of life – only their struggles are often magnified by security risks, health, exposure to different cultures and languages, and isolation from their loved ones and support networks.

GO Global Care is a loving community of support for our Global Workers. And the Missionary Care Team exists to provide Connection, Care, and Community for the Christian family of Global Workers – whether they are on the field or at home.

Wherever God has placed the Global Worker, we recognize and appreciate their service and sacrifice in bringing the gospel message to the world. Our heart is to see the members of Houston’s First Baptist Church involved in sharing the gospel message through adopting a missionary or missionary family.

OUR GLOBAL WORKERS NEED YOU!

We are looking for people with a passion for missions, a heart for missionaries and a desire to serve global workers, through our Connection Team or our Hospitality Team.

CONNECTION TEAM

As part of the Connection Team, an individual or family would host and support a missionary or missionary family in one or a variety of ways. There are opportunities for one-time visits to ongoing support as a missionary care contact.

Connection Team members will have the opportunity to communicate directly with and care for a missionary or missionary family and serve as a liaison to the Missionary Care Team.

Listed below are some of the ways team members can support Global Workers:

• Missionary Care Contact: Adopt a Global Worker and be their primary point of contact for missionary care.
• Prayer Team: Praying consistently for Global Workers supported by our church.
• Participate in a Bible study and fellowship group especially for returned Global Workers.
• Go on short-term mission trips designed to support and encourage Global Workers on the field.
• Volunteer at Missionary Care Retreats.

MISSIONARY CARE CONTACT

In this specific role on the Connection Team a Missionary Care Contact (MCC) is an individual, family, LBS class, or small group who adopts a missionary or missionary family supported by Houston’s First. MCC’s provide encouragement, prayer, and a direct link to our local church family.

Each Missionary Care Contact will serve both as a point of contact for a missionary or missionary family and as a liaison to the Missionary Care Team. Listed below are some of the ways the Care Contacts will provide support to their adopted missionary or missionary family.

• Communication – regular communication through newsletter, email, and social media
• Hospitality – ensuring they are welcomed, and their needs are met upon return
• Prayer – consistent prayer for them and their mission
• Relationship – establish trust and support by knowing them and their situation
• Support – regular interaction with the Missionary Care Team

As a Missionary Care Contact you will have a direct and ongoing personal relationship with missionaries on the field. You will share in their day to day lives and mission work.

Connection Team members and Missionary Care Contacts will work in association with the Missionary Care Team.

HOSPITALITY TEAM

As part of the Hospitality Team, an individual or family would host and support a missionary or missionary family in one or a variety of ways while they are in town. This would include both short-term and long-term stays.

Hospitality Team members will have the opportunity to host a missionary or missionary family and serve as a liaison to the Missionary Care Team.

Listed below are some of the ways team members can support returned workers:

• Grocery shopping to “fill the fridge” in preparation for return
• Hosting a family for dinner
• Engaging in opportunities to let them tell their stories from the field
• Meeting transportation needs
• Providing short-term or long-term housing resources
• Serve as a Houston “tour guide” to see some of the local attractions

Hospitality Team members will work in association with the Missionary Care Team.

GO GLOBAL CARE TRIPS

Whether you are part of the Connection Team, or the Hospitality Team you are encouraged to join the Missionary Care Team on overseas Care Trips to visit and care for our missionaries!
