Homebound Care Team

Many of our church members are limited by age, disability, or illness and no longer have the ability to participate in the ongoing life of Houston’s First Baptist Church. They need someone to keep them connected to the church they love. We desire to show our love and concern for the homebound by personal visits, phone calls and letters from the Pastoral Care staff and volunteers from the congregation to those confined to their home or nursing homes.

Volunteers will minister to those in our membership and community who are confined to their home or nursing home for extended periods of time. Volunteers will keep them connected to our church, send cards and make phone calls and/or monthly visits.

Responsibilities

  1. Visits – once a month
    • Listen to them
    • Have conversation
    • Pray
    • Share your faith
    • May want to bring a small gift – i.e. candy, bookmark
    • Report visits and needs they may have to the Pastoral Care Staff
  2. Phone Calls – once a week
    • Have conversation
  3. Send Cards – periodically
    • For special occasions (i.e. Birthday, Anniversary, Holiday)
    • Cards for: Get Well, Encouraging/Praying for You, Sympathy, etc.
