Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Psychology from Wheaton College. Amy is SYMBIS trained and certified, and provides both pre-marital and marital counseling. Amy also counsels women and teenagers facing issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, career stressors, faith struggles, trauma, life changes, and other crises.
Amy approaches counseling with an eclectic orientation based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy. From these theories, she draws a number of techniques including active listening, empathy, genuineness, attention to nonverbal behavior, appropriate confrontation, reframing and coping strategies. Amy approaches each of these theories and their techniques from a Biblically based perspective. She sees counseling as meeting her clients where they are, addressing the deep issues they face, instilling God’s Word into the process of healing, actively working on key issues, and pointing them to the ultimate comfort found in God’s saving grace. Amy works with her clients to identify their goals and formulate a plan for achieving them. She considers it a great privilege to walk alongside clients in therapy as they find their place in God’s world and grow in their knowledge of who they are.
